Get involved. Shape Progress.

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? Do you want to get involved and help us to shape progress?

We’re looking for new tenant representative committee members and want to hear from you!

Our tenant representatives are valued members of our organisation, and we rely on them to let us know what’s important to their communities.

They help us drive good decision-making right at the heart of the organisation and tell us how we can make things better.

We are looking for inspirational tenants who are friendly, approachable, and good communicators with excellent knowledge of their local community.

If you live in one of our homes and are passionate about ensuring your community and the people who live in them receive a great service from us, then we want to hear from you.

Our tenant committees are an optional paid opportunity with a minimum commitment to attend four meetings over 12 months.

The closing date to let us know you are interested is the 31 May 2024.

What does a tenant representative committee member do?

You will work closely with our tenants, board and colleagues to:

  • help us learn about our services and your community, highlighting what issues affect people
  • advise us on how we might develop or improve services relevant to you and your community
  • check our performance and how well we deliver our services to our tenants
  • check our complaints process and how well we learn from feedback to drive improvement.

Who can be a tenant representative committee member?

You will need to be a tenant in one of our homes.

You do not need to have been involved with us before, but you will be passionate about the difference tenants can make to neighbourhoods and improving services for everyone.

We are looking for tenants who are willing to:

  • listen to others and work well as part of a team
  • speak confidently in front of others, and be happy to share your (or the person you support) experiences as a tenant
  • learn how the committee can help to improve services
  • live our values of being genuine, expert, people-focused, and collaborative.

What’s in it for you?

  • It’s a great opportunity to influence, make a difference and shape services
  • We will pay you up to £2200 per year for your time and contribution
  • We can help with reasonable expenses for you to attend
  • It’s a great experience for your CV and career development
  • We will support you in building your skills and confidence
  • It’s a fun way to make positive changes to your community!

Commitment

The first committee meeting will take place in Autumn 2024.

You will need to attend four meetings, which take place every three months over one year.

Each meeting will last around two hours.

You may also need to be available for additional meetings where we support you to develop your skills.

Financial contribution to attend

We can help with reasonable expenses for you to attend, plus those of an advocate or support worker if you would like them to come with you.

We will also offer you an optional payment of £2,200 per year for your commitment (subject to tax and National Insurance).

For independent and impartial advice about the expenses provided as part of this opportunity and to check that any entitlement to benefits is unaffected, please get in touch with your Tenancy Sustainability Team or the Citizens Advice Bureau (external link).
