Welcoming our new Project SEARCH interns

We are thrilled to be celebrating the third year of our innovative Project SEARCH programme. Providing internship opportunities for young autistic people and young people with learning disabilities.

Working with our partners Runshaw College, DFN Project SEARCH and Lancashire County Council the programme provides young people with real-life work experiences to help them prepare for the transition from education to paid employment.

After completing their first few months of work experience with Runshaw College, our seven new interns are ready to start the next stage of their internships, each working in different areas of the Group.

Over the next six months, they will carry out three placements across various departments, from working with our Property Services Team to our People Team. Each placement aims to provide them valuable work experience and opportunities to develop their skills and gain confidence in their abilities.

Sarah Clark, our Talent Acquisition Lead, said: "As we start the third year of our Project SEARCH programme, we look forward to continuing to provide an inclusive work culture while enhancing our workforce with diverse talents.

"The Project SEARCH internship programme focuses on developing employability tailored to the needs of young people with learning disabilities and autistic people. By providing internships in various departments, we hope to offer them a well-rounded experience and help them gain confidence in their abilities."

Will Sutton, the interns' Project SEARCH tutor, added: "2024 is a new start for our interns and more opportunity for growth and personal development. As they begin their placements working at Progress Housing Group, they will learn new skills and bring enthusiasm, determination, and a hunger for learning.

"Together, I know we will support them and recognise their courage and dedication as they start this next chapter of their professional journey."

Welcome to Team Progress, Leon, Lucy, Charlie, Michael, Gwen, Emily, and Joseph!
