Summer Fun at Lower Lane

Thank you to everyone who joined our barbecue and bingo evening at Lower Lane earlier this month.

We wanted to bring the community together and find out what they wanted to use the community centre in Lower Lane for.

We had some great ideas from our younger tenants, including pizza making, movie nights, a coffee morning and a gardening club.

Children enjoyed playing on the bouncy castle, supplied by Bouncelona, whilst our Progress Futures Team cooked barbecue food.

The evening was topped off by a few rounds of bingo, organised by Customer Voice Officer Sam Beattie, where some great prizes were won.

Tenants told us they had fun and wanted more events like this:

Brent said: “We have had a few flyers through the door about events but this is the first we have been to. We enjoyed this one, so we might start to come to more.

“It is good for the community as we get to meet different people.”

Lola, who is one of our younger tenants, said: “I think that it is good because there are a lot of people on the estate who don’t know each other, so it is a good way to make friends. I am glad the community centre is next to the park, so we can play.”

Her brother, Luka, added: “It is good to socialise with other people my age.”

Sarah Raynor-Duke, Area Housing Officer, North Team, said: “We had a fantastic time and we hope families who joined us did too. It was great to see tenants getting involved too, from doing the bingo calling to helping clear up.

“We want families living in the Lower Lane area to enjoy our community centre so we used the event to speak to the youngsters about what they wanted. They had some really great feedback and we will now look at these suggestions to see what we can offer.

“Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it a great evening.”
