Nigel is a Progress Housing Group tenant who lives in a Progress property in Bamber Bridge.

He self-referred into Progress Futures several years ago, as he wanted some support in finding some volunteering work and wanted to complete some training courses.

He has worked on/off with Progress Futures for several years and has built a fabulous CV with all the volunteering work he has undertaken and the courses he has completed. Nigel has literally volunteered his time at loads of different venues, all over the country, including but not limited to The Liverpool Beer Festival at the Bombed out Church, Lytham Festival, Leyland Festival, The National Festival of Making in Blackburn, Manchester Pride, Lancashire Archives in Preston, Tough Mudder event. He is a professional volunteer!

On Saturday 22nd June 2024, Nigel volunteered at a weekend event in Leeds called ‘Total Warrior’. A 6K and 12K run with obstacle classics such as ice, fire, water and lots of mud!

Total Warrior saw over 25,000 people attend and take part in the tough fun run in Bramham Park, Leeds. On the Saturday Nigel was a volunteer, manning one of the obstacles called ‘Peaks of Pain’. He had to make sure people were ok and using the obstacle safely and correctly, so as not to injure themselves.

On Sunday, to say ‘thank you’ for his volunteering efforts all day on the Saturday, Nigel was actually able to take part in the 12k run, for free. He completed the full 12K run and tackled all of the obstacles head on and he did this in a great time too!

Well done Nigel! What's next?!
