Safeguarding Adults Week 2024
Welcome to Safeguarding Adults Week.
This week is Safeguarding Adults Week and an opportunity to raise awareness of how we can all protect the health, wellbeing and human rights of individuals.
At Progress Housing Group, safeguarding our tenants, customers and our colleagues is an inherent part of the work that do, whilst providing good quality housing to meet a range of needs. We also work with our charitable partner Key Unlocking Futures to deliver a range of services supporting victims of domestic abuse and people at risk of homelessness.
Some of our tenants are vulnerable and at risk of exploitation. It’s important that we are able to recognise the risk of harm and abuse in whatever form it may take. We’re supporting the national safeguarding charity, Ann Craft Trust, to highlight and raise awareness of key themes:
- Look, listen, ask – developing professional curiosity
- Working in partnership: how to work effectively with the people you support
- Establishing professional boundaries
- Recognising exploitation: the ladder of criminality
- Professional and organisational Learning
We will be sharing some helpful resources, including an animated “explainer” video about working in partnership, created for our tenants. We’ll also be raising awareness of working in partnership and developing professional curiosity.
How can you make a difference?
- Learn about the different types of harm and abuse
- Discover how to spot the signs
- Record any concerns you have
- Report your concerns to your Local Authorities Safeguarding Board
Adult Safeguarding is about safety and wellbeing. There are some situations we may come across where a situation is impacting a vulnerable person so much that they are unsafe. Or it impacts their well-being - this is safeguarding, too.
