Making use of our communal spaces

As we aim to serve the communities where we live, our community centres are just one way we can provide extra support and activities.

Here is how our community centres are being used:

  • The Place community centre, in Royal Avenue, Wade Hall, Leyland, will host charity bingo sessions (usually held at Fox Lane Sports and Social Club) from Tuesday 8 April until Friday 9 May. This is due to the sports and social club undergoing refurbishment. The bingo sessions are Fridays, Sundays and Tuesdays from 6.30pm until 9.15pm.

  • Wade Hall Community Association also runs several activities at The Place:

Community Shop – Monday 11.30am to 2.30pm

Back to Basics and Warm Space – Wednesday 12.30pm to 3.30pm

Butterfly Cafe and Thrift shop – Friday 12pm to 4pm

Our Progress Futures Team holds a digital workshop on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month.

  • The Base and The Base II in Broadfield Drive, Leyland, are open Monday to Friday.

This includes:
A community shop every Wednesday from 9am until 5pm

A community cafe Monday 10am until 4pm and Wednesday 10am until 3pm

A clothing exchange open 5 days a week

A drop-in support session every Thursday from 8.30am until 5pm

A social club every Tuesday from 10am until 1pm

Progress Futures runs a Job Club every Thursday from 10am until 12pm.

  • Our Lower Lane Community Centre, in Auster Crescent, Freckleton, is also available to use by the local community or for hire. We are currently running a free after school sports club, every Friday 3.45pm for 8 to 15-year-olds until 25 April.

  • After a recent kitchen refit, Saltcotes Community Centre, in Lytham St Annes, will soon be available for use and hire. The centre already hosts a number of community events, including a regular pop-up pre-loved event with iHope Fylde.

Some of the communal areas in our independent living schemes are also open for members of the community:

  • Volunteers run a coffee morning every Friday at Lowerhouse, in Welsby Road, from 8.30am until 10.30am.
  • Meet your local Social Prescribers Lytham St Annes Primary Care Network for Freckleton Friends at Croft Court, Maze Lane, Freckleton on the 1st Wednesday of the month, 1pm - 3pm.
