Living your Best Life tenant competition results

We’ve been supporting our communities since 1994, and to celebrate our 30th anniversary, we asked you to send photos or poems depicting how you were “Living your best life” as part of our competition.

The competition ran from mid July to the end of October. It was advertised on our website, social media, and on posters at our community centres and independent living schemes.

It was open to Progress Housing Group tenants and supported living (RWP) tenants.

There were three categories to enter:

  • Creative work (not just art, this includes any kind of craft, baking or making things!)
  • Photography
  • Poetry

Our judging panel, which included our Chief Executive Jacqui De Rose, a Non Executive Director and Deputy Chair Elaine Johnstone, an RWP colleague Tracey Barker, and three involved tenants, Julie, Margaret and Gillian, awarded all entries a score out of 10.

We were blown away by the talents of our tenants, who sent us an array of creative work, ranging from crocheted items, to furniture made from wood.

You can view their entries on our You Tube video above.

Congratulations to our winners:

My life with Progress Housing by Joyce

Of all the folks in Orchard Grange, there’s no one here that’s really strange (‘cept me)

There’s Ann and Ann and Ann as well, which one’s which, who can tell

There’s Joyce the voice at number 10

She’s the witch that shouts at men

Now Bob’s a man at number 2 watch your back or he’ll get you (BOO)

Then we have Angie with that wonderful stare

Some people say it’s her “I’m warning you glare”

There’s Carol and Carol and Mary and Mary

These duplicate names are all getting scary

Here we go with John and John more duplicate names

“WHAT’S GOING ON?”

Let’s go to Pat who’s quiet as a mouse

Until it comes to BINGO, then she’s loudest to shout “HOUSE”

THERE’S teddy loving Debbie who loves her furry friends

But try to keep a count of them would drive you round the bend

Joyce and Pat and John and JAN, all live in Orchard with their Scottish twang

“SEND THEM ALL BACK,” you hear people mutter

Coz they sound like they talk with a terrible stutter

Upstairs is Elsie whose ever so sweet, more like the person we all love to meet

Then we have Bill, he’s very quiet, not like the rest who all cause a riot

We also have Terese who’s going up the pole

When she hears Jimmy’s words “SAUSAGE ROLL”

Now Chris is the one who likes a good movie,

To me that’s just great I think she’s groovie

With Irene I’m struggling to find a good rhyme

I’m sure it will come It’s a matter of time.

NOW I’VE DONE THS POEM I’M GOING TO DISAPPEAR

I’LL SHOOT OFF BACK TO GLASGOW AND COME BACK WHEN IT’S CLEAR

COZ ALL THIS LOT IN ORCHARD JUST WNA TTO BELT MY EAR

BUT I’M GOING TO WRITE ANOTHER

OH GOSH, OH MY, OH DEAR.

  • Those who were awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category will receive a One4All shopping voucher and a certificate.
  • All those who were Highly Commended will receive a certificate.

Well done everybody!
