Christmas in our communities

Christmas is traditionally the time for giving and here at Progress Housing Group, we have been supporting our communities by volunteering.

Here is a round-up of what some of our colleagues have been doing to help others:

  • The Continuous Improvement Team spent one evening volunteering at Our Homeless Drop In – Luv Preston, based at St Wilfred’s Community Centre.
  • Colleagues helped to deliver food parcels and selection boxes to nine primary schools in Leyland.
  • Project SEARCH interns decorated Lower Lane Community Centre ready for the Breakfast with Santa. The interns also sang carols at Greenwood Court independent living scheme in Leyland.
  • Colleagues helped out at the Breakfast with Santa event in Lower Lane, Freckleton. Volunteers from Fourth Wall Theatre Company dressed as elves and brought Santa and a panto dame with them.
  • There was even more fun a few days later at the Lower Lane youth cafe and the present room, helping children wrap gifts for their loved ones.
  • Colleagues helped out at a Breakfast with Mickey and Minnie Mouse event at Saltcotes, and also helped children wrap presents for their families in the present room. Thank you to iHOPE Fylde for their support.
  • Some of our colleagues joined the Mayor and Mayoress of South Ribble and RSM UK to support Leyland Foodbank at Tesco in Leyland. Acting Director of Housing Operations, Tola Adesemowo, said: “Progress Housing Group supports and encourages us to volunteer throughout the year as part of our social value and employer-led volunteering offers. We know that many of our tenants use Leyland Foodbank, and we wanted to come along to support them and give something back to the local community.”

Special thanks also go to:

  • Our colleagues at South Ribble and Chorley women's refuges who have been busy collecting and wrapping all the wonderful gifts donated by colleagues and members of the community for our Wish Tree Appeal.
  • All the volunteers at The Base and The Place for their hard work in collecting, wrapping and delivering gift bags on Christmas Eve, as part of their Christmas Smiles appeal.
