Keeping Lower Lane clean

Thank you to everyone who helped us to clean up the Lower Lane estate in Freckleton.

Thank you to everyone who helped us to clean up the Lower Lane estate in Freckleton.

Our army of volunteers filled a giant skip with large bulky items, and filled several bags of litter, keeping the streets nice and clean.

We were particularly pleased to have the help of our ground maintenance contractor Nurture, and clean and clear company Thrive, who volunteered their time as part of their social value work.

Tenants and local residents also helped out, carrying and lifting bulky waste.

One resident Andrew told us he booked the day off work to help out. He said: “I think it is great that Progress is trying to tidy up the estate.

“I am not a tenant, but Progress has done a lot for me in terms of being part of the wider community. I wanted to give back and so was happy to help clear the rubbish.”

Iain Martin, Area Housing Manager for Fylde, said: “Clearing the estate of rubbish is a big job and we couldn’t have done it without the support of everyone on the day.  So thank you to the tenants and residents who rallied round to keep their estate clean.

“Our volunteer colleagues enjoyed having the opportunity to speak to tenants and residents and find out why they are passionate about the estate.

“We also want to say a big thank you to our ground maintenance contractor, Nurture, and the guys at clean and clear company Thrive who were a big help on the day. We love working with other organisations to help make our communities better places to live.

“We want to encourage our tenants to take pride in their area and keep the estates clean for everyone else.

“The tenants and residents did a great job clearing away large bulky items. If you missed out, you can do your bit to help your local community by contacting Fylde Council to remove unwanted items and prevent flytipping.”
